At each stop in the metropolitan cities of India, a number of people can be found selling some items which sometimes we don't even gaze at and at other times we just buy even without giving much head to it. Most of these hawkers and roadside salespeople are the 'Children of India'. They sell very well and try to earn the bread for their families, but I guess that this is not the way it should be!!

There was a time around 65 years back when our motherland was bounded by some foreign powers, then in order to free our land a number of people were even ready to give up their lives for the country...rather a number of great Children of India like Bhagat Singh, Chandra Shekhar Azad, Jhansi ki raani, and many many more of them have given up their lives to save the dignity of India. Today our studies somewhere lack the abilities of filling our hearts with that sense of patriotism. Have we become too materialistic and lost in the liquor of our financial development? Today we don't even think before dirtying the public places. Even hi-tech people and managers of the countries can be seen littering around at public places in even the metropolitan cities.

It is not just about the littering of the public places or about the small children who are selling things or begging at the red-light stops on the roads of the metropolitan cities, it is about a number of such facts that show that as countrymen we are not at all proud of our country. A number of incidents of killing of couples who love each other and want to marry could be read in the newspapers these days. The reason cited by the communities is that they were killed because they have put down the dignity of the community. I guess same punishment should be given to the killers who have put down the dignity of our country by killing a young couple that was just trying to experience that they are living in an Independent India.

Today we need to remember the words of great monks of our country like Swami Vivekanand, "Arise Awake and stop not, till the goal is reached!" We must remember the words of Krishna that the Birth of Human is not just for nurturing his own body or his own family, but it is for the Jankalyan. It is for country and for the upliftment of the weak sections of society. We must understand that reformation of our country is not in the hands of the Government, neither in the hands of any industrialist. None of the leaders can even bring this reform. Only the awakening of our inner consciousnesses can bring out the true Indians from within us. Today when India has almost all the necessities the students, workers, farmers, soldiers,cops, scientists, teachers, engineers, doctors and all professionals have to show that how well can they perform. We must not forget the words of our Father of Nation, Mahatma Gandhi, "First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, and Then you win!!". We must understand that when we start performing, at first may be our achievements are not appreciated or ignored if we keep working consistently, a time comes when people understand our presence.

So, lets take a pledge and understand that we will never let down the dignity of our motherland by supporting or practicing the Evils like child labour and others. We must also learn to take out some time from our busy schedule and try to do something for the country. This not only prevails a sense of wakefulness and positiveness in India, but also gives some peace to our selfish minds.

The Oral Tradition of India..

The cultural heritage of India is one of the oldest amongst cultures of the world. One thing that people may not be knowing about the cultural heritage of India is the oral tradition of studies. Cultural heritage of India had many rules and regulations that were defined in the Vedas, which were collection of various shlokas (poetic stanzas written in Sanskrit). These shlokas were devoted to some God of the RigVedic era. It is said that the vedas were recited by Rishis (Indian saints who experimented everything practically before reciting a shlok). These collection of shloks were recited by group of Rishis and were collectively called as Rig Ved(The oldest of the four Vedas). Rig Ved was recited by the Rishis daily and were taught to the pupils. The Rig Ved contained teachings of Economy, Astrology, Philosophy, Soft skills, Skills to read persons mind, Warrior skills, Mathematical skills, and many other things. One thing that was common in all the shloks was that they all were recited for some God. It means that all the actions that were taught to the students were devoted to some God. The concept of 'I' or selfish action did not exist in that era. People were taught to act because they had to act, there was no concept of acting for desires. The people who acted for themselves or for their desires were not considered refined or 'Arya'. The unrefined people were called as 'Anarya'. Eating of meat and consumption of liquor were considered into the category of Tamsik(negative) Bhojan (food). For a Brahman (All people who deal with spread of knowledge but not for their selfish motive), tamsik bhojan was considered as a sin. The reason behind this was that if a person will consume tamsik bhojan just in order to fulfil his desires of taste, he will gain negativity and will not be able to convey the knowledge in a positive manner. Tamsik bhojan was nowhere considered wrong for a Kshatriya (a warrior by deed) who is preparing for a war if he consumes it in order to build a heavy body to beat the other party.

The oral tradition of India prevailed for many years may be scores of thousands of years. In this tradition the spread of knowledge was oral and practical. Nothing was written. The secrets and knowledge was passed down the generations similarly the Vedas. Later Rig Ved was reformed from time to time, because change is necessary with time. We cant apply each theory an custom of the past in the present scenario. The reformations in the Rig Ved led to Yajur Ved, Sam Ved and Athar Ved. But after a lot of time written languages came into origin.

This is around 5000 years back when the vedas were recorded on the TamPatra leaves. They were written by various rishis and were stored in the ancient universities of the World. Some of these Universities were The Nalanda University (Bihar, India) and the TakhShilla University (Texilla, Punjab Province, Pakistan-previously in India). Due to the invasions and fights amongst the different sects of people in India these parts of these Vedas were burnt and destroyed in different times. Since the cultural heritage of India was strong at that time so it was difficult to conquer India. Now India is a democratic and secular country. Today it is difficult to prevail the strict Hindu religion in India and it would even be impractical but yes following the attitude that our Rishis had towards each action would take us nearer to perfection.

Life or a Dream?

When we dream something horrifying what happens? We wake up sweating like a horse and we drink some water and we get normal after some time. But, why did this happen to us? We were afraid in our dream, not in reality. Then why did we react, as if, we were afraid in reality? May be because while dreaming we considered that very dream as our world and that’s why everything that happened in the dream appeared real to us and we reacted to it as if, it’s all real.

OK now just leave that, we mistook the dream as a reality when we were least conscious, but, why are we doing similar thing when we are quiet awake? Yes, I am talking about our waking state. Why do we react to this World so seriously? What is the difference between life and dream? If someone scolds us uselessly, we get so sad and angry and our Blood pressure goes up, we feel upset and etc. We all know that we have to wake up one day when this dream of life will end, then why are we making ourselves so much attached to this mortal dream of life that will end one day within a glimpse of our eye. When we do something wrong, our conscience keeps on telling us that what we are doing is quiet wrong, then why do we go on the wrong path just because we want to be a more comfortable dreamer. Don’t you think its mere foolishness? Don’t you think that being sad for not getting something in a dream is foolishness? Don’t you think that loosing a beloved just in a dream and then crying for that is foolishness? Now, your reaction to these sentences must be that the very author is a foolish chap who thinks that life and dream are same.He doesn't knows anything about how to live in this world. Never mind, this is a normal feedback to my articles.

Why do we cry when we loose someone special? It's not only because we love them wholeheartedly, but its because we are too selfish and we just want that person to be with us because we feel too sad when he/she is not near. Why do we cry when someone closes his/her eyes forever? Same reason, selfishness, because we feel that we have become helpless and incomplete without that person. But why do we feel such things, again selfishness, because we made ourselves too dependent or attached to the person. But, if we are not attached to anyone then won’t we become a rude chap who never talks to anyone? So, the answer to this is a big No. Rather we’ll become too friendly, confident, etc. etc. and we’ll know exactly what to speak and where to speak. There will be no confusions in our thoughts and emotions. Am I speaking uselessly as these things are not possible practically? May be..but what’s in trying them out? Now-a-days we try so many idiotic things then what’s in trying something that may fill our lives with happiness and that would eradicate the word ‘sad’ from the dictionary of our life.

But, before starting I would say something. We know that if we fill a glass with water up to the brim and then we try to pour more water into it, nothing will enter the glass. Similarly if we keep on thinking that we know everything and we are always right then even if God comes to us and tells us that we are wrong and we should change ourselves, we’ll somehow prove the God wrong because of our Ego which is also an ironical thing. How can we feel so egoistic about ourselves when God, the supreme power is not at all egoistic?

Ok so let’s start. Firstly, we'll have to set it in our minds that whenever we feel sad we ourselves are responsible for it, and not anybody else. Taking an example of our parents who love us more than anything else in this world, but sometimes they scold us for no reason may be because they are disturbed due to some other thing. But, since we expected that they won’t scold us so we feel sad not because they scolded us but because of our expectations which were marred. Things happen in this world and they’ll keep on happening, we can't stop them from happening, but the only thing that we can do is that we can change the way of looking at the world, we cant change others but yes we can change our own mindsets.

What’s the difference between the positive and the negative person? Suppose a rich girl goes to her friend’s place to show her a diamond necklace that she had bought recently and somehow she looses her precious necklace unknowingly. So, there may be many responses to it. She may say that, "I lost my necklace due to my carelessness and I should be careful next time." Or she may blame that, "May be, my friend stole it." Or if she is superstitious she may say that, "Maybe my friend was jealous so I lost it". Now the first response is positive and rest all are negative because in first response the girl seems quite unselfish and it seems that for her emotions mean more than the material things that’s why she is not suspecting her friend. But in other views she seems quite negative. And she’ll only feel sad if she’ll think negatively i.e. if she’ll be selfish.

Thus, being sad, angry, tensed up, hating someone are not the things for which we are living. Just think upon it, that we don’t get angry or sad but we make ourselves the same just because of are way of thinking. No one in the world likes a sad face. Everyone wants to see a happy and smiling face. Everyone likes positive things so why not just dump our ego and our wrong way of thinking and just live it up!! With joy and happiness and accept the world as it is.Because it’s only a short dream where we are too conscious and our sorrows and happiness just depends upon our way of thinking. Never take life too seriously as no one gets out alive anyhow! Always be ready to change yourself according to the situations because situations are not in your hands and Darwin has already given the theory of the survival of the fittest. One who can bare all the emotional, mental and physical challenges of life with a pleasant smile on the face will be winner. Only He/She would treat life and dream in similar way and live all the difficulties of life with a smiling face.
